57-year-old man died in avalanche accident
Two touring cyclists were descending from Eggenmanndli at lunchtime on Thursday. An avalanche broke out. A 57-year-old man could only be rescued lifeless.
(zgc) On Thursday around 12:45 pm, two touring skiers descended from Eggenmanndli towards Brüsti. As the Uri prosecutor’s office and the cantonal police write in a joint press release, the man driving second caused an avalanche of flagstones. The 57-year-old was swept away by this and completely disappeared under the masses of snow.
His partner immediately alerted Rega and searched for him using an avalanche beacon. Other people came to his aid. The group managed to locate the man between 150 and 200 meters below. The 57-year-old skier could only be rescued dead by Rega.
