The Thurgau railway specialist improved the national record in Grenchen by about 3.8 kilometers.
The railway specialist Claudio Imhof has set a record for hours in Switzerland on the Grenchen oval. The one from Thurgau covered 52,116 kilometers and improved the old Marc Dubois brand from 2017 by about 3.8 kilometers.
Imhof missed the Grenchen track record of 52,491 km, which Australian Rohan Dennis set 5 years ago, by less than 400 meters. Imhof’s time, who was the first Swiss to break the 50-kilometer mark, can also be seen in an international comparison.
I can well imagine making a second try.
The current world record, held by Belgian Victor Campenaerts for more than a year, is 55,089 kilometers. “I can well imagine making a second attempt at a later date. Without a doubt, with a longer preparation I can get even more out of it, ”says Imhof.
Along with the BeCycling Foundation, the 30-year-old also raised money for a good cause during his attempt. Almost 3,300 francs were raised for the benefit of young cyclists.
