On Monday night an accident occurred shortly before 10 pm on the A22 / entrance to the Netzen roundabout in Sissach, according to the Basel police.
According to information provided by the authorities so far, a 47-year-old driver was driving from Liestal on the A22 in the direction of Sissach / Olten. Upon entering the Netzen roundabout, he lost control of his car for reasons that had not yet been fully clarified, he passed over the roundabout development and eventually collided head-on with a border wall.
Flown to the hospital by helicopter.
The driver of the vehicle was seriously injured in the collision. After first aid by the medical service, he was transferred to a hospital in a rescue helicopter, authorities also reported.
The vehicle involved suffered a total cancellation and had to be recovered and removed by a towing company. The Kienberg tunnel had to be closed briefly during the investigation. There were slight traffic obstructions.
