Earlier this month, doctors gave Mariana permission to participate in the national competition in Santos. She starts in the 50, 100 and 200 meters freestyle. But then the drama runs its course. At his home in Presidente Prudente, the 14-year-old had a sore throat, the medication didn’t help.
Tested positive again
“We took her to three hospitals,” says Erica Bernardes da Silva. Tonsillitis, it was said everywhere. Only in the regional hospital were problems with the lungs discovered. Mariana is admitted, another Covid-19 test is performed. Again Mariana was positive, writes “Marca”.
So everything goes very fast. The patient appeared to be stable, despite problematic oxygen levels. But 24 hours after admission, he went into cardiac arrest twice. The second is too much. Mariana Franklin Ferreira passed away on Sunday, as confirmed by the Brazilian Swimming Association. No further details are known about the cause of death.
