US President Donald Trump wanted to withdraw about 12,000 US troops from Germany in the summer.
In his view, Germany is investing very little in the NATO defense alliance.
Now the United States Congress wants to block the withdrawal of troops at least temporarily.
That comes from the draft defense budget package that Democrats and Republicans have agreed to.
This means that American soldiers should withdraw from Germany in at least four months. However, Donald Trump must also sign the law for it to take effect.
