Sustainable sneaker start-up is selling Labarders sweaters, T-shirts

Well-known start-ups around Silicon Valley will be hoping to get another piece of your closet for their comfortable slip-sn sneakers.

B Labards is moving into the clothing category by launching four new items on Tuesday: T-shirts made from carved crab shells; An ool not cardigan; An ool not jumper (britishism for pullover sweaters); And wan puffer-jackets – these are all made from merinool, sourced from New Zealand, found in b Labradors’ popular shoes.

It opened more than a year after All Labards started selling socks. Earlier this year, he started selling underwear and hinted that more apparel products were on the road.

The new items will double its commitment to using sustainable materials, including plants, recycled plastic bottles and now crab shells.

“Does the world really need another t-shirt?” Asked co-founder Tim Brown during an interview. “The fashion industry doesn’t need another t-shirt unless it’s better.”

Brown said the company had previously identified a waste stream, which in this case is a surplus of snow crab shells in Canada’s seafood industry. To make shirts, minerals are extracted from shells and mixed into ool. The result: an antimicrobial fabric that can kill bacteria, Brown said.

“The result is something special,” he said.

B will retail Labradors’ new T $ 48, Cardigan 5 5 145, Jumper $ 135 and Puffer for 250 250.

When coronavirus is epidemic Selling loose clothing, with fewer people dressed for work and other special occasions, has really been a boon for b labards. Consumers are looking for comfort, and b labards are known for that. The company launched its first running shoe in April. It also recently launched its own mobile app.

“Our business has been very resilient during really difficult times,” Brown said. “On top of that, we’ve seen a truly incredible stimulus in the customer’s interest in sustainability.”

B Labradors says it plans to expand its apparel preferences. But as it happened with the shoes, it will start small.

“We’ve focused on a handful of essentials that we want to exercise,” Brown said. “We only sold one shoe for the first year of our existence.”

The start-up, which started in 2016, is known for its ool na sneaker perhaps 95. B Labradors sells its tenth shoe in just two years in business. It has evolved to arouse the interest of big-name investors like actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Last month, it landed 100 million in the Series E funding round. According to a person familiar with the round, the value of the fund, led by Franklin Templeton, is 1. 7.17 billion. In 2018, the durable footwear manufacturer raised 50 million.

“I think it speaks to the wider interest in the financial and investor community towards the environment and sustainability,” Brown said of the recent rounds of funding from BLibards.
