Suikoden successor Eiyuden Chronicle could be our first confirmed Switch 2 game

Update n. ° 2: Eiyuden Chronicle It has already surpassed its console stretch goal, but sadly, that doesn’t seem to confirm that the game is linked to Switch, as we originally assumed. The Kickstarter page now lists Nintendo’s “next-gen” console as the target platform and no Change.

When we initially reported on this campaign, we were told that the Sony and Nintendo consoles were “definitely” in the mix, we just naively assumed that the team meant Switch and not Switch 2!

Given that Nintendo hasn’t even begun to talk about which system will replace the Switch, which only takes three and a half years in its life cycle, the assumption that the game will make it to a future Nintendo console seems like overkill, but the Eiyuden Chronicle doesn’t. It will be completed for at least another two years. The situation is similar to that of crowdfunding success Bloody, which raised its funds in 2015 and was supposed to hit Wii U, but ended up being a Switch release.

Update n. ° 1: The Kickstarter is live, and the developers are looking for $ 1 million to unlock the console versions.

Original story Tokyo-based Rabbit & Bear Studios has announced that it is creating a spiritual successor to the Konami classic Suikoden Serie.

The studio, which was recently founded by many of the key creators of the Suikoden franchise, plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign for the game on July 27, which is titled Eiyuden Chronicle.

The game is described as “an ode to the classic JRPG genre of the PlayStation era that will feature classic JRPG exploration and battles in high-resolution 2.5D graphics, pixel-based characters, a story of war and friendship, a diverse cast of 100 unique heroes to join the protagonist’s effort and a fortress building system to grow his army. ” A guild system will allow players to change the attributes of their fortress, while battles will take place in turns and will have up to 6 party members.

Here is the plot:

Our story begins at a corner of Allraan, a tapestry of nations with diverse cultures and values.

By sword power, and through magical objects known as “rune lenses,” the history of the earth has been shaped by the alliances and aggressions of the humans, beastmen, elves, and desert people who live there.

The Galdean Empire surpassed other nations and discovered a technology that amplifies the magic of runic lenses. Now, the Empire is searching the continent for an artifact that expands its power even further.

On one of those expeditions, Seign Kesling, a young and talented imperial officer, and Nowa, a boy from a remote village, meet and become friends.

However, a twist of fate will soon drag them into the fires of war and force them to re-examine everything they believe to be correct and true.

The team behind Eiyuden Chronicle includes:

  • Yoshitaka Murayama – Screenwriter / Stage Director (Suikoden I, Suikoden II, The living alliance)
  • Junko Kawano – Lead Artist (Suikoden I, IV, Ark Ultimate)
  • Osamu Komuta – Director (Suikoden Tierkreis, Suikoden Tactics, Ark Last)
  • Junichi Murakami – Producer / Art Director – (Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, OZ)
  • Motoi Sakuraba – Composer (Stories Serie)
  • Michiko Naruke – Composer (Wild weapons Serie)

While the game is not yet confirmed for the Switch, or indeed for any console format, a lengthy target for the Switch will “definitely” be included as part of the campaign, Rabbit & Bear Studios tells us. The release date is expected to be fall 2022.

Murayama, the leader of the Eiyuden Chronicle project, said this:

The first thing we decided when our members came together was, “It is high time we made a really interesting game that we want to make ourselves.” We chose Kickstarter to make an interesting game with the players in mind, keeping the rights to the game’s planning, world, and story all while keeping the project fun. Lend your support in this new challenge of ours! We promise to create something that heeds the call of your voices.

The Kickstarter campaign will run from July 27 to August 28. Will you leave your money in cash?
