Studies show that hydroxychloroquine could not prevent coronavirus in health care workers

Hydroxychloroquine is an anti-malarial drug, a new study has found. President TrumpDonald John Trump Trump hints at lifting privacy shutdown soon after fundraising, civil rights groups demand transparency from Amazon over breach of election data Said he kept the coronavirus away, did not stop COVID-19 in health care workers.

Learning, Published Wednesday in the Journal Jamani internal medicine, Between 132 full-time health care workers exposed to the virus in two urban hospitals between April 9 and July 13. However, the hearing ended early.

Some participants were given a dose of 600 mg of hydroxychloroquine daily while others were given a placebo for eight weeks.

“Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania wrote that there was no significant difference in the rate of infection among participants receiving hydroxychloroquine compared to placebo.”

Four of the 64 health care workers given hydroxychloroquine tested positive for COVID-19 and four of the 61 healthcare workers were given a placebo.

Of those eight participants who tested positive, six developed viral symptoms. No one needed to be hospitalized and they all recovered from the clinical illness, according to the study.

The researchers concluded that “we cannot recommend the regular use of hydroxychloroquine among (health care workers) to prevent COVID-19.”

The findings of the newly published study appear to be similar to those reported in the June study New England Journal of Medicine, Which found that hydroxychloroquine could not prevent disease when its exposure occurs within four days of exposure.

In July, the right to emergency use for both chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine was withdrawn due to the severe safety granted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Doctors have warned that the drugs could cause serious heart problems, but the FDA had previously approved their use for hospitalized patients and during clinical trials.

Trump has repeatedly promoted the drug as a potential miraculous cure for the virus. He said in May that he was taking hydroxychloroquine, in combination with zinc, to prevent COVID-19 from occurring.

Trump’s drug promotion has created a shortage of people who need it for other conditions. Hydroxychloroquine, which was initially approved as an anti-malaria drug, is also used to treat lupus and arthritis.
