Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono will leave Capcom after nearly 30 years


Street Fighter producer and Capcom developer Yoshinori Ono has announced that he will be stepping down from the company he worked with for nearly 30 years this summer.
Ono took to Twitter to explain his decision, and he began by raising the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and how it affected the Capcom Pro Tour and its 2020 format.

He then went on to chat about his departure, describing how much Street Fighter, and its community, meant to him.“I’ve been with the Street Fighter brand for a long time, experienced good times, bad times and even non-existent times,” Ono said. “My heart is full of appreciation for the players who have given warm and friendly support to the market over the past decades, as all the activities on the Street Fighter market gained sunshine and their vitality grew.”

“And now, after serving at Capcom for almost 30 years, I’m leaving the company this summer. This means I’ll be leaving my position as Market Manager for several Capcom titles, including Street Fighter.”

“Capcom staff in the new generation will continue to nurture the Street Fighter brand and lead the World Warriors. And I believe they will continue to make Street Fighter extraordinary. I will come out to make the new Street Fighter brand to see and how it will be expanded, just like next time one of the regular gamers. “

Ono began his career at Capcom working on Mega Man: Battle & Chase for the original PlayStation as a music composer before joining Street Fighter Alpha 3 as a sound engineer. He would go on to help with many games, including Devil May Cry, Onimusha, Resident Evil: Outbreak, and more. He soon became a favorite of favorites around his work on Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V.

, as he would appear at many fan events and tournaments with a smile and wonderful energy.
