As some of our country’s famous singers have made some dubious statements about the pandemic recently, Stevie Nicks has come out of her shawl vault to shower us all with some relaxing and reasonable meditations on the current moment. Nicks posted a journal entry from July 17 on Twitter, which, in his tone, reads as if written from the deck of a beautiful 19th-century sailing ship on a long and mysterious journey. The actual journey in question involves Nicks lying awake with a stomachache listening to Pandora, thinking about how she feels safe at the moment and hoping everyone will come together to wear masks and stay safe so we can see each other again. “In order for us to return to our former lives, we must all become spiritual warriors,” writes Nicks, with frankly better public messages than he would receive from our government. “If we don’t get ahead of this now, we will live with so much guilt and regret that it destroys us.” Nicks adds: “I want to get back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on these black suede knee high boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget about the world and sing for me. I want you to record this as an audio file so you can meditate and feel a little bit calmer while I fall asleep every night.
