Meghan Markle’s efforts to help get the vote out have critics back in the UK
Last Thursday, the former actress took part in a virtual ‘When All Women Vote’ event for Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote initiative, in which she urged women to mobilize and speak out against reassurance.
“At this moment, if we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem,” the duchess said. ‘If you’re selfish, you are employees. We can make a difference in these elections. And we will make a difference in this election. “
As a U.S. citizen now living in California after her and husband Prince Harry’s interruption of her former royal duties earlier this year, Meghan has been vocal about her intentions to vote in the upcoming presidential election, though she has so far resigned short of a particular candidate. But her outlook on beating the ballot box has already angered royalists who say it is unfavorable in light of her duchess status. Although not strictly against the law, it is considered “unconstitutional” for a British monarch (currently Queen Elizabeth II) to vote, while members of the royal family have historically followed their lead and remained apolitical.
As such, Meghan’s passion for exercising her right to vote ranged from critics such as talk show host and longtime detractor Piers Morgan, who responded to her remarks by demanding that her royal titles be stripped.
“They can not remain as royals and spit on foreign elections in such a very partisan way,” fumed Morgan, one of the Duchess’ heartbreaking critics on Twitter.
The Queen must strip the Sussexes of their titles. They can not remain so generous and spit on foreign elections in such a very partisan way. https://t.co/6uZ3FTbjHW

To which Morgan replied, “Peep your stupid man. If Mrs. Markle wants to make a truly moral statement, I suggest she relinquish her ducal title, and the money of her father-in-law, and stand on her own two feet. Her shocking respect for the Queen and the monarchy, and the royal ‘rule book’, is scandalous. ‘
He called Simon a ‘disrespectful little project’.
The ‘old bread’ is Her Majesty the Queen, you disrespectful little girl. She has been on the throne, and has served the British people with dutiful dignity, class and empathy, longer than you have lived. So place your impressive Baltimore braggadocio where the sun does not shine. https://t.co/V3HxW2ad2A

Extraordinary! Meghan is now actively campaigning against Donald Trump.
Very unfavorable and a massive diplomatic embarrassment to the Queen and British Royal Family, whose great success and longing are based on stays out of party politics. https://t.co/FfRm1Vlfn7– Dan Wootton (@danwootton) 21 August 2020

In a follow-up tweet, British actress Meghan called it a ‘terrible threat to patriarchy’ that was more critical because of her race.
Because she’s not white. And because she is smart, strong, opinionated, rebellious, beautiful, happy and has everything she will never have. She is a terrible threat to patriarchy because she does not fit the stereotype for women. They discredit them because they can not kill them.

During her performance at the “When All Women Vote” event, Meghan also thought about the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, and its limitations.
“This week we recognize the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which of course gave women the right to vote, but not all women,” she noted. “And specifically not women of color. If we look at things today, even though it took decades for women to get the right to vote, today we also see so many women in different communities who are marginalized still struggling. to see that right to perform. It’s just not OK.
