St. George’s News – The new COVID-19 infection ranks high in Southern Utah

S.T. George – While election day may have come and gone, the coronavirus reminded Southern Utah residents on Wednesday that it hadn’t happened.

139 new Covid-19 infections were reported in Southern Utah on Wednesday by the Youth Health Department, the highest in a single day since the epidemic began in March.

Washington County leads the new case with 100, while Iron County saw its first coronavirus-related death since Sept. 25; hospital 65- 84 A person admitted to the hospital between the ages of 84 and 84 84 years.

The region and the state have seen a steady rise in viral infections, hospital admissions and deaths since the end of September, with the state recognizing additional public health restrictions on Oct. 13 but showing no sign of diminishing their respect, including Washington, Beaver and There are Garfield counties. Reached their highest level since being admitted to hospital in southern Utah on Tuesday, with 35 local residents hospitalized with the virus. That number dropped to 30 on Wednesday.

The state saw its second worst day overall since the onset of the epidemic. Two and a half months ago, Gov. Gary Herbert celebrated at a news conference that the state was moving down to an average of 40,000 new infections every day.

As of Wednesday, it averaged 1,803 per day, with 2,110 new infections across the state and hospital admissions also reaching a new high.
