St. Clair County Officials Warn of Possible Exposure to COVID-19 in Two Businesses

DETROIT – The St. Clair County Health Department has been notified of possible exposure to COVID-19 at two area food service establishments.

Clients of both facilities are encouraged to self-monitor symptoms for the next 14 days and seek evidence if they become symptomatic with any of the following: fatigue, cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath, muscle pain, headache, nausea or vomiting, congestion, sore throat, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Michigan has increased to 74,152 as of Monday, including 6,126 deaths, state officials report.

First business

Two confirmed cases involving an employee and a customer are associated with the Eagles Blue Water Aerie 3702 Fraternal Order. The business is located at 2645 Howard Street in Port Huron.

Customers who visited the establishment from July 7 to 17, 2020 may have been exposed. Aerie officers are working closely with health department officials. Employees who worked closely with the cases will be quarantined. The facility voluntarily shut down for a thorough cleanup and now reopens after completing all necessary protocols.

Second business

the second incident includes a confirmed case in an employee of the Anchor Point Bistro201 North Riverside Avenue, St. Clair.

Customers who visited the property on July 12, 2020 may have been exposed. Management is working closely with health department officials. The facility has COVID-19 procedures that include daily employee health checks and periodic deep cleaning. The installation has followed all the required protocols. Employees who worked closely with the cases will be quarantined. Due to great caution for the safety of its employees and sponsors, management has decided to voluntarily shut down until July 27, 2020.

Take extra precautions to avoid passing the virus on to others. People can spread the disease up to 48 hours before symptoms, and some may remain asymptomatic.

The virus is spread through respiratory drops among people who are in close contact with each other. This usually occurs when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. The best way to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect others includes:

  • With a mask or cover your face when in public spaces
  • Practicing social distancing – 6 feet or more away from others
  • Avoid large gatherings
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Monitoring for signs and symptoms (listed above)
