Spurs’ schedule for Orlando restart is out

The Spurs have their marching orders when the NBA resumes next month in Orlando, Florida.

They return to the court, albeit a disinfected and fanless person on ESPN’s Wide World of Sports campus, on July 31 against Sacramento.

It will be the team’s first game since the March 10 victory over Dallas, a day before the NBA halted its season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Other games on the Spurs’ renewed schedule include: August 2 against Memphis, August 3 against Philadelphia, August 5 against Denver, August 7 against Utah, August 9 against New Orleans, August 11 against Houston and August. 13 rematch against Utah.

The Spurs will head to Orlando with a record of 27-36, 12th place in the Western Conference. To extend their playoff streak to a record 23 consecutive NBA appearances, the Spurs would need to jump Sacramento, Portland, New Orleans and Memphis to take eighth place, or climb to at least ninth to possibly force a series of play -in with team No. 8.

The Spurs must try to accomplish that without second scorer LaMarcus Aldridge, who was ruled out after undergoing shoulder surgery in April.
