SOUTHGATE, Mich. – A popular downstream banquet hall is the latest business noted as a COVID-19 hot spot.
The Wayne County Division of Public Health announced Wednesday that it confirmed a total of five COVID-19 cases linked to a wedding held Saturday, July 18 at the Crystal Gardens Banquet Hall in Southgate.

As of Wednesday, there are five women, ages 22 to 55, who attended the wedding on July 18. One had to be hospitalized.
The Wayne County Public Health Division says the wedding illegally and improperly attended more than 100 people.
On June 1, Governor Gretchen Whitmer issued Executive Order 2020-110 outlining the rules on meetings, performances, and events. This order limits attendance to no more than 10 people in the interior and 100 people abroad in this region of the state.
Local 4 received a phone call from a spokesperson on Wednesday afternoon, saying the wedding only lasted three hours. There were no parties or dances and social distancing was enforced.
The property said it sees no difference between what it did that Saturday than what happens in restaurants across Michigan.
Reception attendees at Crystal Gardens are encouraged to call Wayne County Health Division at 734-727-7078 to report your contacts, get tested by a healthcare provider as soon as possible, and quarantine at home as directed.
