SOUNDS 1, WHITECAPS 0: Nicolas Lodeiro gave the Sounders a deserved advantage in the 16th minute, converting their chance from the spot after Jordan Morris took the penalty kick off a shot that was handled in the box.
It was Lodeiro’s first goal of the season and makes him 13 of 14 from the spot for the Sounders in all competitions.
LINEUPS: The Sounders made three changes since their last game against the Chicago Fire, none of which should be particularly surprising. Jordan Morris is back in the lineup after resting a bit, Shane O’Neill replaces the injured Yeimar Gómez Andrade and Handwalla Bwana will face Shandon Hopeau after scoring a goal from the bench.
The Seattle Sounders will face the Vancouver Whitecaps in their last game of the group stage. The Sounders are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Chicago Fire on Tuesday morning. The Whitecaps wasted a 2-0 and 3-1 lead against the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night, eventually falling 4-3.
Recent games have been very favorable for the Sounders. Since two Group A teams have two losses, and one from Cincinnati and New York Red Bull are guaranteed 4 points or less with a negative goal differential, the Sounders will automatically advance if they win. However, anything less than a victory will eliminate them from the competition.

- Just win. It doesn’t matter how it happens, but if the Sounders want to advance, they must win this game.
- Keep it stable. The defense was a lack of brilliance against the Chicago Fire. With Yeimar Gómez Andrade out, Shane O’Neill will have to step in and have a stable game.
- Feed Raúl. The Sounders DP Striker is off to a really smooth start in this tournament. It would be nice to see him get more than one shot.
The Sounders are -175 favorites to win according to DraftKings. Meanwhile, the Whitecaps are +430 with a tie at +310.
