Sony ready to reveal PS5 price and reveal date

Here’s an inevitable truth: Sony will, at some point, have to tell us how much the PS5 costs. You cannot postpone this forever. You can’t sell the PS5 in some sort of $ 600 loot box, where you can get a new console or you can get a PS4 skin. No matter how long Microsoft and Sony continue to play this chicken price game, sooner or later they will have to sell these things. So while this is a rumor and all the rumors come with grains of salt, eventually one of them will be true.

This comes to us through the PlayStation Universe, which saw a tweet from Italian analyst Roberto Serrano saying that Sony is about to reveal the price and release date of the PS5 on July 13. The tweet says 12:30 AM PT, but I think it means 12:30 pm, because it also says 9:30 pm Central European Time. PlayStation Universe notes that Serrano has correctly predicted event dates before, but it’s odd.

The key game here, in the theoretical world where this is true, is that it would allow Sony to open pre-orders ahead of the Microsoft event on July 23. If stocks are limited, that should be able to make people take the plunge. even before they can consider whether they go for Xbox Series X or not. It wouldn’t be the worst idea, assuming Sony can organize things on time.

We’ll see, I guess. The current rumor is that Xbox will wait until August to announce the price of the X Series, as well as the existence of the alternative budget Project Lockhart. Lockhart is still the wild card we can’t really explain in all of this, but I’m sure we’ll be able to pre-order some next-gen consoles before the summer is over, at least. Like I said, we can’t keep putting this off forever.

So does Sony see tonight I guess? I don’t expect to see anything, but you never know.
