Half-Life: Alyx created new interest in VR, and since its release, many VR headsets have barely been found. Stock is slowly returning to normal, though if you want to save some money, and you’re ready to go with an older headset, you can bundle an original Oculus Rift with its Touch controllers for $ 300. The original Rift is compatible with Half -Life: Alyx, although you sacrifice resolution, while also having to use sensors.
While this deal is fun, you can buy an Oculus Rift S as well as a 64 GB Oculus Quest for $ 400 each. The Quest in particular offers much more utility, as it is a wireless device that does not require a PC or sensors – everything is handled inside the headset. However, you can still pack it into a PC and use it as a Rift.

The original Rift is compatible with everything the Rift S can play, though it does require the use of external sensors to track your movements – the Rift S has built-in tracking built into the headset itself. Fortunately, this may not damage the accuracy of your movements, but you will need to do some setup before jumping into it.
The panel resolution of the Oculus Rift is 1080×1200 per eye, while the current Rift S has 2560×1440 per eye. The resolution difference should not be too much of an issue with Half-Life: Alyx, though it will look nicer in a newer headset. Neither are you sure you are having a great time.
