Hakim Ziyech is convinced Donny van de Beek will soon prove himself against Manchester United ahead of Chelsea’s clash with his former teammate on Saturday.
The midfielder joined United in an initial € 39m trade from Ajax during the summer. However, with only two EFL starts to his name, Van de Beek has yet to prove himself to United.
That has fueled the suggestions of one expert suggested the midfielder was a kind of “panic buying”.
With United producing their best performance of the season beating PSG on Tuesday, Van de Beek again had to settle for a two-minute cameo.
That probably means a bench spot at best once again when United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday night.
It’s been a similar slow start, albeit mainly due to injury, for Ziyech at Chelsea.
The couple had a great relationship at Ajax and the Moroccan is convinced that his good friend will soon find his place at United.
In fact, Ziyech had two words of advice – “keep calm” – to Van de beek when asked about his current situation.
“We spoke at the beginning when he moved to Manchester,” Ziyech said.
“And last week we didn’t talk much, we didn’t talk about his situation.
“I think he will need time too.
“He comes from a different country, a different style of play.
“I know for sure that it will also take him some time to get used to everything and then I know for sure that he will bring quality to the team there.
“For him the most important thing now is to stay calm.”
Regarding his own situation at Chelsea, Ziyech trust that his time will come.
“If you think realistically, I’ve been out for a while. The season stopped last year for me a little earlier, I didn’t play for a while, ”he commented.
“As I said before, the injury came at an unfortunate moment.
“For me now it is important to get back on track and rebuild everything.
“I know it will take some time, but for me it could be as soon as possible.
“But it is what it is now and for me now it is more important to build again to arrive with 100% fitness and that is what we are working on now.

Ziyech thankful for not joining Arsenal
Ziyech has revealed his relief by biding his time for his big move to Chelsea instead of joining Arsenal or Barcelona two years ago.
“Two years ago I was about to move to another place, but it didn’t happen,” Ziyech said.
“And for me, looking back now, I’m happy that it wasn’t.
“Because from that moment on I had an incredible journey with Ajax too, and an incredible time. I improved a lot on the highest stage in Europe.
“And this summer was the time for me to move on, take a step forward and I am really happy to have the last two years at Ajax.
“I think the last two years have improved me a lot, not only as a person but also as a footballer.”
Ziyech has also named the three Chelsea players he “can’t wait” to play with. Read more here….
