Singapore – Fast food giant McDonald’s announced Thursday (April 30) that it will be closed beyond May 5, when its stores are scheduled to reopen.
In a Facebook post of the brand’s operations in Singapore, he said he would see customers “soon, but not on May 5.”
A Covid-19 outbreak among seven of its workers at various branches in early April caused the entire store to close on April 19, on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health (MS).
And although McDonald’s says it is allowed to reopen as of May 4 under the Essential Services framework, it has decided to remain closed “for a little while longer for the safety and well-being of our employees and customers.”
The fast food brand said it will monitor the situation in the community before deciding when to resume operations.

The company had already assured its more than 10,000 workers before closing last month that their wages would be paid during the shutdown.
McDonald’s also announced that the seven Covid-19 infected employees were on the road to recovery and thanked supporters on their part.
The publication announcing that McDonald’s would not open yet has gone viral, with thousands of shares.
Commenters commenting on the announcement expressed support for the fast-food giant, and some did so humorously.
There was even a message of support from a former employee.
