Xiaxue expresses concern about the ‘destitute state’ of its Hougang HDB block, city council responds, Singapore News

It hasn’t been that long since that whole episode involving his criticism of Raeesah Khan from the Workers’ Party (WP), various police reports and an attempt by #CancelCancelCulture.

But social media influencer Xiaxue is back with more to say about WP, this time regarding the “unsightly and unhealthy” state of her apartment block.

In case you didn’t know, the avowed vocal supporter of the Popular Action Party is actually a member of the WP-led Aljunied GRC.

But his latest complaints “have nothing to do” with his personal political views, he claimed while posting his complaints in a series of Instagram stories on October 5-6.

Xiaxue, whose real name is Wendy Cheng, describes her living area as in a “destitute state,” wrote: “As a resident here, I pay the city council fees and hope that my HDB [block] be in good condition and at least not be dangerous! “

He has stayed in an HDB executive floor in Hougang for the past seven years, but only noticed maintenance problems last year when things “got worse and worse,” he said.

Responding to Xiaxue’s call, the Aljunied-Hougang City Council (AHTC) told AsiaOne that it was aware of the real estate issues in the area and would be addressing them in a major Repair and Redecoration (R&R) project.

Works had been suspended due to Covid-19 restrictions for “most of this year” but are “gradually resuming,” he added.

Wires and cracks around the block

Sharing various clips and photos around her block, Xiaxue complained of rats, exposed wire tied together by zip ties, cracked concrete floors, cracked walls, and holes in ceilings.
