Ian Wright says Manchester United remains “very weak” on defense and has chosen the player who could solve their problems.

BBC expert Wright says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men “are there to take” on the left side and thinks they should go and sign Napoli Kalidou koulibaly to solve your problem.

Koulibaly has been linked to United this summer, but neighboring Man City is believed to be leading the chase for the highly rated center-back.

Sport although they have stated that City is not willing to pay the € 85 million sale price for Koulibaly. That’s because it wouldn’t be a worthwhile investment for a 29-year-old.

Speaking to Kelly and Wrighty’s show, Wright said: “When you look at United, what they have up front and put Van de Beek there with them too, they just signed a contract at Fernandes and everything changed. They suddenly looked amazing.

“But for me, from a defensive point of view, I feel like it’s still a week long.

“We heard that Manchester City could get Koulibaly. United have to go in there to try to make that deal!

“If you look at them from the left side, yes, we know. [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka is a fantastic right back and a great defender.

“But [Victor] Lindelof and even Harry Maguire – from the left side they are there for the taking.

“If you’re going to challenge those teams, that must be a lot stronger.”

Wright has urged United to reconsider signing Jadon Sancho and has told them to focus on his defense.

“I’m not sure where [Sancho] work at United now.

“They have a player in Van de Beek who can play three positions, so it’s a good deal for them.

“As much as we hear and see great things from Jadon Sancho, Man United must do what Liverpool did: tackle the real issues and then see where they go from there.”
