But after fighting for his life for three days, the Chinese citizen died on Sunday afternoon.

SCDF said it was alerted around 7:10 p.m. to last Thursday’s fire, which involved a pile of scrap metal roughly 20 by 20 m and was extinguished with four jets of water.

The factory is the site of World Metal Industries, which is a general waste disposal facility.

Mr. Luo said that he regretted Mr. Wang’s death and that the company arranged for his friends and family to say goodbye to him.

“During his hospitalization, we arranged for him to video call his family in China every day until his last breath,” he told Wanbao.

“His colleagues and friends here also had the opportunity to say goodbye.”
