Worker dies after being electrocuted in a workplace incident at the NS Police Department site

SINGAPORE: A 27-year-old foreign worker died after being electrocuted in a workplace accident on Thursday (October 15).

The worker was dismantling an electrical switchboard at 170 Still Road, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said on Monday in response to inquiries from the CNA.

The Department of the National Police Service is at that address.

“A 27-year-old Indian citizen was dismantling an electrical switchboard when he was electrocuted. The worker was taken to Changi General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries,” MOM said.

Police told CNA they received a call for assistance at 1:18 p.m. Thursday. “A 27-year-old man was taken unconscious to Changi General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead,” they said.

According to MOM, the deceased’s employer is IT and engineering solutions provider STIE. MOM is investigating the incident.
