A prime example of what not to do when driving someone else’s car: A woman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, crashed on a playground and abandoned the accident, leaving her passenger at the scene.

The 24-year-old woman was arrested for driving the car without the owner’s consent, police said. The accident occurred near Block 25 Jalan Berseh at 11:42 am on September 17.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, a witness said that he had heard the sound of the car’s engine before seeing it travel towards the playground at high speed.

The vehicle only stopped when it hit a stone bench, he said.

“After the driver opened the door, she quickly ran up the stairs [to the HDB block], leaving the passenger behind.

“He only came back half an hour later and even changed his clothes.”

The driver and her passenger had apparently been in a motorcycle accident just two days ago, said the witness, who heard family members scold them for getting involved in another crash.

The two women appeared to be in a bad mood and were crying as police officers took their statements, according to the reporter at the scene.

Both reportedly initially denied driving the car, but one of the women eventually admitted to being the driver.

Five police vehicles, a score of officers and police dogs from the K-9 unit were seen at the scene of the accident.

It was a blessing in disguise that no pedestrians were injured in the accident, a local resident told the Chinese newspaper.

The crash site connects two apartment blocks and he frequently sees the elderly in wheelchairs pass by and wait for private rental vehicles, he added.

Police investigations are ongoing.
