It goes without saying that 2020 has not been the most huat year. For one woman, things got a bit worse thanks to a hapless Ninja Van deliveryman who broke her prized possession – a “lucky” pot.

He had broken the pot while delivering a package to his home at 180C Marsiling Road on Dec. 16, the aggrieved woman told Lianhe Wanbao, adding that she called police after he refused to apologize and fled the scene. .

That morning, he was in his kitchen when he heard a sudden loud noise.

When he got to the door of his house, he saw his broken flowerpot on the ground, his package left at his door and the delivery man turning to leave, he recounted the daily Chinese night.

The pot was placed on his door according to fengshui principles and had won him numerous lottery prizes over the years, he explained.

Stopping the man, she asked him about the pot and asked to speak to his manager, but he refused to apologize, she said.

The man, who remains nameless, also acted aggressively and raised his voice, saying, “If it’s broken, then it’s broken.”

Angry, the woman yelled, “Don’t run away. I’ll call the police.”

At this, the man threw a second package he had been holding onto the ground and ran off, he said.

“I took a look and saw that the parcel belonged to a neighbor on the same block. But I wasn’t sure which one it belonged to.

“The delivery man threw a package that was not mine on the ground for no reason. I felt unsafe so I called the police and asked them to resolve the matter.”

Confirming that they had received a call for assistance in relation to a case of intentional harassment, the police said that the parties involved were informed of their legal remedies and that no further police assistance was needed.

Ninja Van is investigating the incident, a spokesperson said in response to the newspaper’s inquiries.

Meanwhile, the woman claims that she has not been able to contact the logistics company’s customer service department.

The woman mourned the loss of her flowerpot and revealed that it was a gift from her great-grandfather when he visited relatives in Fujian more than 20 years ago.

The planter was handmade and featured hand-carved designs, he added.

“Thanks to this lucky pot, I won the lottery often. This year alone, I won more than 10 times. A few weeks before the pot broke, I won the first prize of $ 2,000.

“You can’t buy this kind of pot anymore. Now that it’s broken, my heart hurts a lot.”
