Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker believes Liverpool’s 2,000 supporters inside Anfield made a big difference on Sunday night.
The Reds were even on points with Tottenham Hotspur atop the Premier League table after a dominant performance in the second half saw them pass the Wolves.
Mohamed Salah put Liverpool ahead 1-0 at halftime before goals from Gini Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and Nelson Semedo’s own goal put a shine on the scoreboard.
It was the first match Liverpool fans had attended since March, with Jurgen Klopp playing in front of the crowd full time with the return of his much-loved fist bumps.
With Merseyside at Tier 2, fans can finally return to Anfield to see the Premier League champions for the first time.
Dendoncker believes that the return of a crowd made a huge difference in the game, with 2,000 fans capable of creating the noise of 15,000.
“I think it’s a big difference,” he told reporters after the game.
“It felt like there were at least 15,000 people here when you heard the noise they were making. They managed to move their team forward.
“Obviously, it is much better with the fans and I hope that if the situation allows it and if we can all stay healthy, I hope that all the stadiums can be full soon.”

“Liverpool are a really strong team and when you go down two and then down three, it’s very difficult to come back after that,” he continued.
“I don’t think we played a bad game and in the first half we had some crosses and some passes that perhaps we could have done better, that we can watch and that we will watch and do.
“Then defensively, we have to try to look at ourselves and think about what we can do better in the future.”
