What You Need to Know About the Soon-to-Be Mandatory TraceTogether Registrations, Singapore News

[ad_1]

As Singapore prepares to enter Phase 3 of its reopening in the coming months, changes are expected.

By the end of the year, registrations through TraceTogether will be mandatory in public places to enhance contact tracing efforts as more social gatherings are allowed. The size of the groups may also increase from five to eight in the future, the multi-ministry task force said on Tuesday (October 20).

Here are some frequently asked questions about the TraceTogether token, as well as the answer to the mobile app.

What is the difference between TraceTogether and SafeEntry?

TraceTogether, both the token and the mobile application, help to identify people in close contact with those who test positive for Covid-19 with the use of proximity data through Bluetooth technology. They will then be alerted immediately so they can help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

SafeEntry is a digital registration system that helps keep track of people entering and leaving places so that the Ministry of Health (MOH) can detect potential groups when a case of Covid-19 appears.

If a location is equipped with QR code scanners, you can also start using TraceTogether tokens to register with the SafeEntry system. Here is the current list of locations where you can do it.

How does the TraceTogether program work?

The TraceTogether mobile app and token work by exchanging Bluetooth signals with nearby phones or tokens of other TraceTogether users. The records of these encounters are stored on each user’s phone or token.

For those concerned about privacy, this data is anonymous and will only be shared with the Ministry of Health (MOH) if the user tests positive for Covid-19. Otherwise, the data is automatically deleted in 25 days.

What are the benefits of the TraceTogether program?

The TraceTogether mobile app and token, along with the SafeEntry system, enable faster contact tracing when there is an outbreak in the community.

With these in place, the average time for contact tracing and quarantining a close contact from a Covid-19 case was reduced from four to two days, the Health Ministry said.

Where do I need to use TraceTogether?

TraceTogether is currently rolling out first in places with large crowds, starting with theaters.

Next, movie theaters are places where large gatherings happen, such as workplaces, schools, places of worship, shopping malls, restaurants, hotels, and healthcare facilities.

By the end of 2020, TraceTogether must be used to register in all places where SafeEntry is required.

Without the token, can I still visit the cinema?

Moviegoers must use the TraceTogether mobile app or token in order to enter the theater. There will be a three week grace period starting October 26.

By November 16, it will be mandatory that you have the application or the token to enter the cinema.

How do I get a token from TraceTogether?

Tokens are currently distributed in community centers / clubs or mobile booths in select shopping centers. You can visit TokenGoWhere for information on where to collect your token.

All residents seven years and older are eligible to collect a token. You can collect the token by presenting your NRIC or your student pass / birth certificate (for children) at the collection locations listed here.

Do I have to use the token if I have the TraceTogether mobile app?

You can choose to use the Tracetogether mobile app or the token.

The token was created to help those who do not own a mobile device, such as the elderly, or those who prefer not to have the application running on their phone at all times.

If you choose to use the mobile app instead of the token, the app must run in the background with Bluetooth enabled.

Do children need to use TraceTogether?

As long as your child is seven years old or older, they will need to use the app or token.
