SINGAPORE: Humid weather is expected to continue through the second half of November, with temperatures ranging from 24 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius, the Singapore Meteorological Service (MSS) said on Monday (November 16).

In a day or two, the daily maximum temperature could still peak as high as 35 degrees Celsius, MSS said.

Short duration moderate to heavy thunderstorms are expected over parts of Singapore most afternoons, and are likely to last into the evening for a few days.

Widespread torrential and gusty rains are also expected between early morning sunrise in a day or two due to the passage of the Sumatran storms.

This comes as low-level winds are forecast to gradually strengthen and switch to blowing from the northeast or northwest towards the end of the month, MSS said, adding that the change in monsoon winds signals the start of the monsoon season. Northeast and is expected to. Extend until March of next year.

“November 2020 rainfall is likely to be above average in most parts of Singapore,” MSS said.

The wet weather pattern continues from the first half of the month, which saw moderate to heavy rainfall over the island for many days. Heavy rains on November 2 also triggered flash flooding in several areas during the afternoon.

Daily temperatures during the first half of November ranged from 22.5 degrees Celsius to 34.9 percent degrees Celsius, with the highest recorded on November 5 and 12 in Clementi and Paya Lebar, respectively.

The lowest temperature during this period was recorded on November 2 in Newton, at 22.5 degrees Celsius.
