Waterfall? The roof of ITE College Central gives way in part due to rainwater, Singapore News

SINGAPORE – A segment of the roof of the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) headquarters in Ang Mo Kio bent on Tuesday, November 10.

The incident occurred after a roof pump failed, causing rainwater to collect on the “bubble roof,” an ITE spokesman said Wednesday.

“Under the weight of the rainwater, a part of the bubble membrane of the roof gave way and the water flowed to Level 1 of Block A,” he added.

Videos of the incident posted on the Sgfollowsall Instagram account showed viewers watching water pour down from above as the sound of heavy rain was heard outside.

Water splashed into a garden area on the ground floor, causing large amounts of dirt and puddles of water to spread across the ground.

Some comments on the Instagram post compared the scene to the HSBC Rain Vortex waterfall at Jewel Changi Airport.

No one was injured in the incident and repair work is underway, the spokesman said.
