It was the hamburger that sparked a “chicken sandwich war” among fast food establishments in the United States last year.
And now, this “world famous” Popeyes Chicken Sandwich will finally be available in Singapore.
When it launched in August, the chicken sandwich, or what we will call a “chicken burger” in these parts, from the American fried chicken chain was sold out in the United States within two weeks. And she didn’t come back until two months later.
The mad dash for the burger even resulted in one death after a customer was stabbed for cutting a line at a Popeyes outlet in Maryland.
Crazy stories on social media featured hamburgers being sold on eBay for $ 7,000, and the news included reports of a customer pointing a gun at staff after being told the sandwiches had run out.

So what makes it so special? The chicken is said to be marinated in a new buttermilk batter and washed down with a special flour that makes the chicken crispier. The brioche bun is also covered in the same buttery topping that is used on their cookies.
For the Singaporean version, we hear that the burger will be made with marinated chicken thigh instead of breast, to satisfy local taste buds.
The burger will also include pickles and a spicy Cajun sauce. However, the burgers are only here for a limited time only from September 16 to October 14, with limited quantities available each day.
