SINGAPORE – More than 300,000 public transport coupons, worth about $ 15 million, have been disbursed in a fiscal year that began in November 2019, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Transport and the People’s Association on Friday (18 May December).
This represents about two-thirds of the 450,000 $ 50 vouchers reserved to help low-income families cope with transportation costs.
The disbursement includes a tranche of 30,000 coupons that were distributed directly to low-income households. These families do not need to apply for the coupons.
Eligible households can continue to apply for coupons until January 31, 2021.
Households are eligible if their monthly household income per person, from all sources, does not exceed $ 1,200.
Each coupon must be redeemed before June 30, 2021. They can be used to reload rate cards or purchase monthly concession passes.
“Eligible households that have not yet applied are encouraged to apply to their local community centers or clubs before the deadline,” the joint statement said.
