Tourists are back at Nurburgring, they see their cars

With a new concept, which focuses on the health of everyone involved, the Nürburgring circuit will start on Thursday April 30 with “contactless tourist campaigns”. Since the beginning of the Corona crisis, tourist trips will be the first activity that can be carried out in an adapted way. This means that everyone has the opportunity to drive their own car on the historic track. In order for this to be done in accordance with uniform rules, traffic regulations are mandatory. The fascination of driving at the Nürburgring has been the result of the demanding track since the opening in 1927, which requires each professional and private driver to have special ability and special care when driving the circuit. In Corona times there are also some things to keep in mind.

“The health of everyone involved has always been our top priority. You can see that not only in the ever-expanding security facilities on and around our race track. In Corona times, we are also forced ”, explains the Managing Director of the Nürburgring, Mirco Markfort. “By developing custom concepts for our activities, it became clear that sightseeing trips could be carried out with tight arrangements.”

The package of provisions guarantees maximum security for all involved

The aforementioned provisions include that the credits for tourist units are only available online and therefore are completely contactless from home on the PC or on the street with a cell phone. The track can be accessed on the site using a QR code or a ticket. Exiting the car at the open entrance to Nordschleife is prohibited. The regularly sanitized toilet is only accessible, where the entrance is controlled.

The barrier at Breidscheid remains closed. Employees are specially trained and equipped with disposable masks and gloves. They ensure the planned process, verify compliance with the rules and, if necessary, sanction violations. For emergencies and problems, the Nordschleife office and a parking clearing office are staffed; Here too, the necessary precautions have been taken to protect everyone involved. Also, road safety is on the road as usual, in contrast to the opposite with one car for each employee. All employed workers and delegates are also specially trained in the rules of conduct generally applicable in “Corona” periods.

Maximum of two people allowed per vehicle – closed parking spaces

A maximum of two people per vehicle is permitted as part of the sightseeing tours, which must have already reached the Nürburgring together. The driver must also note the passenger accompanying him at the time of travel in order to trace a possible chain of infection. To avoid crowds around the track, all parking spaces around the Nordschleife are closed, as in the past few weeks. The Nürburgring also urges visitors through its channels to abide by the rules at all times, including off the race track.

Hotels still closed
Even if contactless tours take place, there is still no overnight accommodation in the region. Therefore, the Nürburgring asks you to refrain from traveling further and only come to the Nürburgring if you are actually taking a sightseeing trip and then you can start your way home.
