SINGAPORE – Starting Thursday (October 1), ActiveSG members will face temporary suspension of their memberships if they violate the rules set forth in the national sports movement’s amended reservation policy.

Users who do not show up for three reservations in a month at ActiveSG gyms and pools will have their membership suspended for two weeks, during which time they will not be allowed to reserve any of the ActiveSG facilities.

You will be notified by email in the event your account is suspended.

ActiveSG said it had observed over the past three months that more than 15 percent of users who reserved their spaces early did not show up during their assigned hours.

Members must reserve spaces for ActiveSG facilities, with the exception of stadiums, online from June 19, when sports facilities reopened in phase two of the post-circuit breaker period.

Changes to the reservation policy will also allow members to reserve gym and pool spaces up to three days in advance to ensure everyone has a chance to use the facilities. Members can reserve spaces 15 days in advance.

Members will not be penalized for no-shows if ActiveSG facilitates the closure of the facility due to maintenance or other reasons. This also applies if category 1 weather conditions, which refer to lightning and downpours, do not allow the use of the facilities.

On its website, ActiveSG stated that members will not receive refunds in cases of light drizzle, but will be compensated if they cannot use the facilities due to the risk of lightning or poor visibility in the pool.

Since the sports facilities reopened in June, ActiveSG has seen high demand, with gyms registering around 98 percent of available spaces monthly, while badminton courts and pools are at 87 and 61 percent respectively.

In a mass email to members, ActiveSG head Sng Hock Lin reminded members that they must comply with current measures, adding: “These measures were put in place to ensure the safety of the community at large, and not we will hesitate to act against errant users. “
