SINGAPORE – The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) ordered the closure of a bar on Science Park Drive and two restaurants after they were found to have disobeyed safe management measures.

S-Tripes Hotpot, a restaurant on Havelock Road, will have to close from Sept. 2-11, after SFA officials found it had breached several safe management measures.

This included the sale of alcoholic beverages after 10:30 pm.

Restaurant staff had transferred the alcoholic beverages to empty green tea kettles and bottles to avoid detection. Staff either did not have faysal test masks, or were not properly testing them despite reminders to do so, the agency said.

The restaurant was fined $ 2,000 for the crimes.

Whimsical Bar was ordered to close with immediate effect, after SFA officers discovered that bar patrons were consuming alcoholic beverages after 10:30 p.m.

It also allowed groups of more than five to sit together and mingle, SFA said in a statement Monday night (August 31).

The bar was also found to be operating without a grocery store license, and its tables were less than 1m apart. It will have to remain closed until a license is obtained, the agency said.

Its adjacent unit, Create Kitchen, violated similar safe handling measures and was ordered closed from Sept. 2-11. Both businesses were fined $ 1,000 each for the crimes.

Under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act of 2020, first-time offenders can be fined up to $ 10,000, face a prison sentence of up to six months, or both.

Repeat offenders can face a fine of up to $ 20,000, imprisonment for up to 12 months, or both.
