Thiago has already broken a Premier League record after Liverpool’s debut

In his first 45 minutes as a Liverpool player, Thiago Alcantara broke a Premier League pass record in his 2-0 win over Chelsea.

Sadio Mane scored both goals for the Reds, with Thiago entering the break and drawing attention in midfield three.

The Spanish midfielder was announced as a Liverpool player on Friday afternoon, after completing a £ 25 million trade from Bayern Munich.

Jurgen Klopp admitted before the game there was no chance the 29-year-old could have started for his team after arriving from Germany just a couple of days ago.

However, when Thiago replaced Jordan Henderson for the second half, the midfielder managed to control the game and even recorded quite remarkable statistics.

Thiago completed 75 passes in 45 minutes, which is more than any of the Chelsea players did in the full 90 minutes.

Furthermore, it is the most passes completed by any player with a maximum of 45 minutes in the Premier League since the records began in the 2003/04 campaign.

The Spaniard was caught up in another key moment of the game, but not one he expected to be, when he cut Timo Werner and the referee awarded Chelsea a penalty.

However, Jorginho missed his first penalty for the Blues, and Alisson saved his first penalty for the Reds.

Thiago is a red!

A deal worth more than 20 million pounds has brought the midfielder to Anfield, and he is ready to play for Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp’s team finally finished their 2-0 win quite comfortably, definitely helped by Thiago’s calming presence in the middle of the field.

The Reds return to action on Thursday night against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup.

Then it’s Arsenal in the Premier League the following Monday.
