The Workers’ Party assumes the leadership of Sengkang GRC

SINGAPORE: The Workers’ Party (WP) took over the Sengkang GRC administration on Wednesday (October 28), after handing over several properties that were under the municipalities administered by the People’s Action Party.

Sengkang GRC comprises the Buangkok, Compassvale and Rivervale districts, formerly administered by the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council, and the Anchorvale District, formerly under the Sengkang West SMC and administered by the Ang Mo Kio City Council.

The new Sengkang City Council is chaired by WP Member of Parliament (MP) He Ting Ru. WP deputy Chua Kheng Wee is the vice president, the city council said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

The town hall will be managed jointly by EM Services and CPG Facilities Management.

“Both administrative agents have affirmed their commitment to SKTC and that they will work closely together to provide the highest standards of property management service to the residents of Sengkang,” the city council said.

“The residents of Sengkang GRC can expect a smooth delivery and continuity in the provision of municipal services in Sengkang Town.”

Residents who pay service and conservation charges in cash should make their payments to Sengkang City Hall at:

Existing GIRO and credit card payment agreements will remain unchanged.

The Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council said Tuesday that it has served part of the Sengkang City Council since its formation on July 30.

Both municipalities have been “cooperating amicably in the transfer, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of National Development,” said the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council.

In the July general election, a WP team won the newly formed Sengkang GRC with 52.12 percent of the vote.

His team, comprised of lawyer He Ting Ru, economist Jamus Lim, equity research analyst Louis Chua, and social activist Raeesah Khan, beat out a People’s Action Party team with union chief Ng Chee Meng, two other officials. politicians: Dr. Lam Pin Min and Mr. Amin, as well as first-time candidate Raymond Lye.
