The resident’s nightmare: the guy plays loud music all day on the empty terrace of Tampines

When Stomp contributor Rosalina noticed a guy playing loud music on the void deck in mid-June, she was fine with it.

However, as the months passed, he realized that it was an everyday occurrence and his patience began to wear thin.

Rosalina told Stomp on October 7 that the uncle would play loud music on the empty deck between Block 201D Tampines Street 21 and Block 201E Tampines Street 23, and that he could listen to the music from inside his home.

“This guy played his music at maximum volume at 8 am, during lunch, at noon, during dinner and even after dinner. The worst thing is that the music played continuously for hours,” said Rosalina.

“Residents who live nearby are not given consideration. It is selfish behavior that has been causing my family distress, as most of us work from home.

“We cannot function properly even with all our doors and windows closed because music can still be heard.

“There are many ways to enjoy music, but definitely not at the expense of others.”

“This hell and this nightmare started to happen a week after Phase Two started. If you want to hear how annoyingly loud music can get, you better not, because it will make you deaf before you know it.”

Rosalina added that she has submitted a police report and has informed the Tampines City Council about the situation.

He also shared that something like this had never happened to him before.

“My family has lived in this area for 20 years and we can always live in harmony with uncles and aunts. The sounds of talking, dog barking, children yelling and stores opening for business are totally fine,” Rosalina said.

“But it’s a different story with loud music like this as it feels like we’re living next door to a tour that takes place every day.”

In response to an inquiry from Stomp, police confirmed that a report was filed.

Stomp has contacted the Tampines City Council for more information.
