A man allegedly threatened to beat and throw hot coffee at staff at a nasi lemak stand at the Yishun Park Hawker Center due to the allegedly long wait for their food.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang shared about the incident on her Facebook page, saying that it happened on September 27.

According to the post, a woman had ordered two sets of nasi lemak around 10:21 a.m. and was informed of a 15-minute wait, which she agreed to.

Five minutes later, at 10:26 a.m., her husband “came and ordered the food,” the post said.

The booth added: “He was informed of the waiting time and began to berate our staff and told us that we should serve him and take out after him.

“We have zero tolerance for rudeness and decided to pay him back. However, he continued his tirade and even threatened to hit and throw hot coffee at my staff.”

The police were called.

A worker at a nearby stall told Lianhe Wanbao that he saw the man and an employee of Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang arguing in louder and louder voices, although there were no physical disturbances.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang had said that she was looking for the man to “identify himself to the police for intentional harassment” but later shared in an update that the man “contacted the police and conveyed his apologies.”

Police confirmed that they were alerted to a case of intentional harassment. Both parties were informed about their legal resources.
