SINGAPORE – The last remaining local cluster of Covid-19 infections has closed, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Thursday (March 25) evening.

“As there have been no more cases linked to the 60,102 case group during the last two incubation periods (28 days), the group has been closed. There are currently no open groups of infections,” he said.

Case 60.102 concerns the 41-year-old Singaporean cabin crew member of Singapore airlines who tested positive for the coronavirus last month on February 9. Subsequently, the woman’s husband and the domestic worker tested positive, prompting the Ministry of Health to open a local group around their cases.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry also said that the latest swab test from the massive tests of 438 people in the National University of Singapore (NUS) sewage incident came back negative.

On Sunday (March 21), viral fragments of Covid-19 were detected from tests of sewage samples collected on March 20 from the north tower of UTown Residence in NUS, prompting the Ministry of Health to conduct tests with swabs to all occupants of the 13 affected apartments.

With this final result, the 438 residents who had a swab tested negative for the coronavirus.

17 new cases of coronavirus were reported Thursday.

This brings Singapore’s total to 60,253.

All the cases were imported and placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said. Only one of the 17 had symptoms when the test was performed.

With eight cases discharged on Thursday, 60,071 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 25 patients remain in the hospital, none in intensive care, while 112 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 30 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
