SINGAPORE – More humid weather is expected these two weeks, but temperatures could reach 35 degrees C in a few days, the meteorologist said on Monday (November 16).

The Singapore Meteorological Service (MSS) said rain is expected on most days of the fortnight and the daily temperature is forecast to range between 24 ° C and 34 ° C.

The second half of November is expected to be as wet as the first, as the monsoon rain band is expected to continue in the Southeast Asia region.

“(In the next two weeks), moderate to heavy short duration thunderstorms are expected over parts of the island in most afternoons,” MSS said in a statement. “There may be some days when the rains last into the night.”

Widespread stormy rains and gusty winds are also expected in a few days between the hours before dawn and early morning.

Overall, rainfall for this month is forecast to be above average for most of Singapore.

On November 2, flash floods were reported in the afternoon at Upper Paya Lebar Road, Lorong Gambir and Mount Vernon Road after a heavy downpour.

The heavy stormy rain that day was the result of strong solar warming of land areas coupled with converging winds over Singapore, MSS said.

Despite the humid conditions, there were some warm days in the first two weeks of November.

The highest daily temperature of 34.9 degrees C was recorded in Clementi and Paya Lebar on November 5 and 12, respectively.

The lowest daily temperature of 22.5 degrees C was recorded in Newton on November 2.

Most of the island had received above-normal rainfall, and Paya Lebar topped the list with 114% above-average rainfall.
