The entry permit renewal for overseas registered vehicles in Singapore will be reinstated from October, after a 6-month waiver, Singapore News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – All foreign registered vehicle permits will need to be extended every two weeks starting in October.

This comes six months after the Land Transportation Authority (LTA) first waived the requirement in March.

The LTA said on Wednesday (September 23) that beginning October 1, all overseas registered car and motorcycle drivers will be required to pay Vehicle Entry Permit fees every 14 days.

Each renewal is valid for two weeks, as was the case before the LTA waived the renewal process from March 18 to September 30.

The move is yet another sign of the return to normality on Singapore’s roads, after the LTA waived the rule following Malaysia’s movement control across the Causeway.

Before the exemption, motorists had to submit an application to the LTA’s Sin Ming office if they wanted to extend their stay.

The LTA removed the requirement to help Malaysian workers who had chosen to stay in Singapore and then extended it so that motorists would not have to crowd into their office to apply for renewal.

The 14-day validity period reinstatement will now apply to all overseas registered vehicles, including those entering Singapore before October 1.

Sanctions will begin to be imposed on those with expired VEPs starting Oct. 15, the LTA said.

Those making the payment can use the LTA online calculator on this website to calculate the total amount to pay for their vehicles.

They can then make payment at any AXS station or at the 24-hour LTA Autopass card recharge booths near the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints, keeping in mind that the booths can be used for rates below $ 500 and for Autopass card payments only.
