What was supposed to be a surprise birthday present from a colleague ended up in the garbage can, as the innocent birthday girl was not home to receive the delivery.

Stomper Jasmine He said his colleague had placed an order with L’éclair Pâtisserie and arranged for it to be delivered to his home on Sunday (October 4).

“It was supposed to be a surprise, so they didn’t tell me to wait for this installment,” shared Stomper.

Jasmin, a resident of the condo, said a deliveryman from the éclair specialty store called her “four times in 11 minutes” Sunday morning because he could not access her unit through the intercom.

However, Jasmin missed the calls because she had been in the hospital visiting her mother.

She shared: “The next thing I knew, I received a message from my colleague, who apologized and informed me that the delivery man had thrown my gift in the trash.

“The delivery man later told me that L’éclair had ordered him to do it.

“At the same time, my assistant had informed me of a flower delivery from another friend. If the florist had no problem delivering the flowers to my house, why did L’éclair face a challenge?”

Jasmin shared a screenshot showing her colleague being informed about the order’s dismissal, as both of them could not be located.

“As stated in the terms and conditions, there will be no forwarding,” said the message, which was accompanied by a photo of Jasmin’s gift in a garbage can.

Jasmin told Stomp, “This is really a ‘surprise’ on my birthday!

“I just wanted to make people aware of surprise deliveries, so they don’t get so much disappointment and a photo of their birthday present thrown away on their birthday.

“L’éclair could have at least asked my colleague, who I am sure would not mind paying the forwarding fee, compared to the amount paid by the éclairs.

“They didn’t even apologize for throwing the article away!”

According to L’éclair’s website, delivery costs between $ 18 and $ 25 per location.

These are the terms and conditions on the order page of the L’éclair website:

L’éclair also recommends that your éclairs be refrigerated within an hour or two of purchase to prevent spoilage or contamination.

The short shelf life of outdoor cakes could be the reason the store discards failed deliveries rather than arranging for reshipments.

Stomp has contacted L’éclair for more information.
