SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed another 18 cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore on Sunday (September 20), bringing the country’s total case count to 57,576.
The Health Ministry also added the customer service operations office of mobile virtual network operator Zero1 in Trivex, located at 8 Burn Road, to a list of public places visited by community cases while they were infectious. It was visited on September 13 from 1:05 p.m. to 2:40 p.m.
The ministry said the 18 new cases are asymptomatic and have been proactively detected.
Of them, one is from the community – a holder of a work pass – and four are imported. The remaining 13 cases are foreign workers living in dormitories, of whom five had previously been identified as contacts from previous cases and had already been quarantined.
Overall, 28% of new cases have no established links.
The lone community case, currently unrelated, was detected through enumerated routine testing of workers in the construction, marine and processes living outside the dormitory sectors, the Health Ministry said.
Epidemiological investigations into the case are ongoing, while all of his identified close contacts have been isolated and quarantined, and will be evaluated at the beginning and end of their quarantine period, the Health Ministry said.
“We will also perform serological tests on your household contacts to determine if you could have been infected by them,” he added.
MINSA noted that the number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of one case per day in the last two weeks.
The number of unrelated cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of less than one case per day in the past two weeks, he added.
Among the four imported cases, two are work pass or permit holders currently working here who arrived from the Philippines on September 8.
Another case is a dependent’s pass holder who arrived from Iran on September 15 and the remaining case is a student pass holder who arrived from Germany on September 9.
All four had been placed on the 14-day stay-at-home notice upon arrival here and were tested while serving their notice at dedicated facilities, the Health Ministry said.
8 bedroom cases detected by surveillance tests
Among the 13 cases residing in dormitories, five had previously been identified as previous case contacts and were evaluated during the quarantine, the Health Ministry said.
The remaining eight cases were detected through surveillance tests, such as the routine tests listed every two weeks of workers living in dormitories.
As of Friday, some 5,700 workers who must undergo routine tests have yet to do so, said the Ministry of Manpower, the Economic Development Board, the Building and Construction Authority and the Health Promotion Board in a joint return on the same day.
“This is a significant reduction from the 13,000 workers last week, and we would like to thank the employers for their cooperation,” authorities had said.
Of Singapore’s COVID-19 count, 54,311, or 94.3 percent, are foreign workers living in dormitories.
99% of all cases have recovered.
With 39 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 57,181 cases, or 99.3 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 30 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while none are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 338 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
In addition to 27 patients who died from complications of COVID-19, another 15 who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease. . heart disease.
