The stars and planets aligned just for this devastating burn, a hell, actually, that came out of nowhere. We can only pray that SMRT quickly recovers from this tone. Y the worrying breakdowns that severely paralyzed train services across the island yesterday (October 14).
Train services on parts of the North-South Line, East-West Line and Circle Line were disrupted last night in one of the worst power-related outages to hit the MRT network in years. It was a difficult time for those caught in the afternoon rush hour. The outage affected commuters at 36 MRT stations and the power outage forced stranded passengers to disembark and walk on the tracks.
We doubt that the Singapore Airlines (SIA) social media team had a premonition about the interruption of the SMRT train service, so it was a coincidence that the airline recognized the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) system in Bangkok that same day. .
On Facebook, SIA’s Bangkok team posted about the beautiful train stations in the Thai city, praising the design and decor of some iconic ones, including the palace-like Sanam Chai station.
The Singapore branch of the Tourism Authority of Thailand appreciated the function of its train system, but also took the opportunity to take a blatant blow to the public transport fuss.
“Our trains are running smoothly tonight,” the Thailand Tourism Authority added last night with a wink on Facebook when SMRT was in the middle of fixing things. Scorching things.
Making the best of everything
The Tourism Authority of Thailand wasn’t the only one having a bit of fun. Despite how frustrating things got last night, some netizens thought they might laugh at the situation as well, prompting a couple of laugh-worthy tweets.

However, the serious inconvenience for travelers yesterday prompted Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung to quickly issue an apology on Facebook and guarantee that SMRT will rectify the issues overnight.
