REUTERS: Tennis personality Patrick McEnroe recovered from the coronavirus, he said Saturday while praising the efficiency of the test drive operation in New York.

“Good news for me and my wife Melissa. We both had negative results for COVID-19,” McEnroe said in a short video he posted on Twitter.

“We just got the tests this morning from New York State. We both went to the drive-through that I had gone to a few weeks ago.”

“This time it was even more efficient, there were six lines instead of two, a lot more people helping, a very efficient operation.”

McEnroe, the younger brother of seven-time Grand Slam champion John, said on March 31 that he had a confirmed case of the coronavirus.

New York City and the surrounding suburbs have been hit hard by the virus.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that some 2,000 people continued to be hospitalized every day, although he expressed cautious optimism that the peak of the epidemic may have passed.

“I know we are talking a lot about testing on television,” McEnroe said. “We need more of them, we all know that, but it was great to see that this was going so well.”

“I’m still thinking of everyone on the front line … I have to stay the course.”
