SINGAPORE – A teenager who was stabbed during a fight in Chinatown during the breaker period faces multiple charges, including multiple counts of cheating and being part of an illegal gathering.
Muhammed Shazryl Hykel Abdullah, 19, suffered back and other injuries after his assailants attacked him with knives on 10 May.
A video of the fight was captured on CCTV and was later widely shared on social media.
The clip shows two groups of people fighting in a hallway on the 16th floor of Block 101 Upper Cross Street, People’s Park Center.
Shazryl, whose case was heard in district court on Thursday (October 22), was previously charged with two offenses under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act, as well as one count each of being part of a illegal gathering and having drugs. paraphernalia in his possession.
The stateless teenager also faces six counts of cheating and three counts of attempted cheating. His cheating charges involved more than $ 12,000 in total.
According to court documents, Shazryl went to a South Bridge Road convenience store around 1.30 a.m. on Nov. 16 last year and allegedly used another man’s debit card to purchase a $ 12.10 worth of cigarettes. .
He is also accused of using another card from the same man that morning to pay for three hotel rooms and two mobile phones. They were worth nearly $ 4,000 in total.
The court documents do not establish how he seized the cards.
Shazryl also went to the VivoCity mall that same day. He is accused of working with two others, 19-year-old Mohamed Daanish Ali Khan Zulluf Kar Ali Khan, and 20-year-old Dani Zulastri Mohamad Salim, to use one of the man’s cards to buy five more mobile phones for a total value of more. of $ 8,700.
The cases involving Daanish and Dani are still pending.
Shazryl’s other alleged crimes occurred during the circuit breaker period of April 7 to June 1.

Despite this, Shazryl reportedly left her home on April 16 to meet with a group of people for an “informal chat session” at Teck Whye Crescent.
On May 10, the day of the fight in Chinatown, she reportedly met four men with a social purpose at People’s Park Center despite the circuit breaker.
The five are also accused of being members of an illegal assembly that came together to injure 20-year-old Noor Najat Alwi, one of Shazryl’s attackers, and his group.
Additionally, Shazryl allegedly had drug paraphernalia, such as clear pipes, in her possession at People’s Park Center that morning.
His case was postponed until November 2. For each count of cheating, an offender can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined.
