Taiwan President Says Drills Show China Is Threat To The Whole Region

TAIPEI: The past two days of Chinese planes approaching Taiwan demonstrate that Beijing is a threat to the entire region and have shown Taiwanese even more clearly the true nature of China’s government, President Tsai said on Sunday (September 20). Ing-wen.

Several Chinese aircraft crossed the middle line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s air defense identification zone on Friday and Saturday, prompting Taiwan to rush to intercept aircraft. China claims Taiwan as its own territory.

At a press conference in Beijing on Friday on China’s peacekeeping efforts at the UN, China announced mock combat near the Taiwan Strait and denounced what it called collusion between the island and the United States.

The exercises took place when US Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Keith Krach was in Taipei, the highest office of the State Department in the last four decades.

Speaking to reporters, Tsai denounced the exercises in China.

“I believe that these activities do not help China’s international image, and what is more, they have put the Taiwanese people even more on guard, understanding even better the true nature of the Chinese communist regime,” he said.

“In addition, other countries in the region also have a better understanding of the threat posed by China,” Tsai added. “The Chinese communists must hold back and not provoke.”

China’s air force released a video on Saturday showing its nuclear-capable H-6 bombers, which have been involved in many Chinese flights over Taiwan, exercising.

One montage shows a simulation of an H-6 attack on an air base that, by the design of its runway, appears to be the main US air force base on Guam.

When asked about that footage and China’s decision to publish it while Krach was in Taiwan, Tsai said that China’s recent activities were a broader threat than just Taiwan.

“China’s existence is really aggressive and it will bring a definite threat.”

China has never renounced the use of force to bring Taiwan under its control. Most of the people in democratic Taiwan have shown no interest in being led by China.
