Suite Life: Relax on a yacht and be cared for by a butler, as part of Orchard Hotel’s Yacht-cation, Travel News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – Orchard Hotel’s yacht and suite vacation promo photos and videos show young adults sipping champagne, living the carefree, Instagram-worthy luxury life on a yacht.

Not your usual hotel stay, for sure.

But I wondered if all this opulence would be lost to two exhausted parents with a pair of vivacious and always-on-the-go daughters, seven and a little under two.

My doubts were unfounded. There was plenty to satisfy both parents and children, from a yacht trip and island excursion to water sports and personalized culinary experiences. We even had a butler, Raymond, at our beck and call.

After checking in, Raymond and his colleagues showed us to our room, the hotel’s 1,130-square-foot Premier Suite, elegantly decorated.

I was excited to find out it has two bathrooms, a blessing when one kid is hogging the tub while the other urgently needs to go.

The sofa bed in the living room was already prepared, as was a crib for the toddler, placed next to the king-size bed in the bedroom.

After removing the children from their ritual of jumping on the hotel beds, we headed out for lunch at the nearby Forum The Shopping.

We considered going for a walk after lunch, but our butler had promised the kids that there would be giant floats in the hotel pool, so we went back for a swim.

An afternoon tea set was waiting for us when we returned to our room after bathing, a variety that included sliders, scones, and cakes. We weren’t hungry, but who could refuse bites after swimming?

Dinner was even more impressive: a four-course set by the pool.

The cool afternoon breeze and fairy lights in the area created a romantic atmosphere, though the kids were most impressed by the giant chess pieces by the pool.

It was an early start the next day. After a delicious breakfast at 7am at The Orchard Cafe, we were taken with our butler to One15 Marina Sentosa Cove to board a 16.5m yacht, the Leviathan 88.

We were warmly welcomed by the boat owner Daniel and his helmsman, also named Raymond. I felt safe knowing that they were both members of the navy and their knowledge of the seas and islands around Singapore was impeccable.

The yacht had two comfortable cabins, which came in handy during the baby’s nap; a mini kitchen; And a bathroom.

To our toddler’s delight and everyone else’s horror, there was also an onboard karaoke machine that had Baby Shark on its playlist.

After sailing around the southern islands, we docked at Lazarus Island and spent some time on the beach, the best you can find in Singapore, with its crystal clear waters, fine white sand and a crowd much smaller than you would. you could find. the east coast or Sentosa.

We returned to the boat, which anchored off the coast of Lázaro, to play with the water.

Daniel was more than happy to let us try all the toys his yacht had, including a three person kayak and a giant floating water mat that you can lounge on and have a drink. He also showed me a photo of a jet ski that he had just ordered.

Around noon, our butler prepared, on board the yacht, a seafood picnic that includes lobster, tuna sandwiches, as well as chocolate and fruit eclairs.

Unfortunately, after a scenic drive through the waters of the Singapore Strait overlooking the CBD skyline, it was time to disembark and head back to the hotel.

We had plenty of time to laze around, freshen up, and pack our luggage as check out time was 6pm, a luxury that anyone, parent or not, can certainly appreciate.

Helpful tips:

• If you are prone to seasickness, it is best to take anti-nausea pills as a precaution before boarding the yacht.

• Those who don’t have to worry about tending to their children’s needs can consider the Yacht-cation package from another Millennium Hotels and Resorts hotel, M Social, which comes with activities for adults like the cocktail making workshop.
