Suárez in a cheating scandal when the Barcelona star is accused of knowing the answers to the Italian passport test before it was carried out

The Bianconeri have cooled their interest in the Uruguayan forward, but efforts to bring him on board have prompted an investigation.

Luis Suárez faces accusations of agreeing on topics in an Italian citizenship test before taking the test, and authorities are investigating the events that occurred during Juventus’ persecution of the Barcelona forward.

The Bianconeri were quick to move to the forefront of a transfer queue once Ronald Koeman made it clear that the experienced Uruguayan leader was no longer in their plans at Camp Nou.

A switch to Serie A seemed to suit all parties, with Suárez eager to stay at the top level as he prepares to open a new chapter in his career at the age of 33.

Juve explored the option of getting the South American an Italian passport, since he is married to a national of the country, which means that he would not occupy a place outside the EU on their team.

Suárez traveled to Perugia to carry out the pertinent tests, with the ‘B1’ evaluation passed.

However, the Perugia Prosecutor’s Office and the Guardia di Finanza are now investigating alleged irregularities in that process.

Part of its mission is to investigate crimes of “secrets and false ideology in public documents.”

Suárez is accused of agreeing on topics before his exam, allowing the result to be predetermined.

A statement from the relevant authorities stated: “During the investigations, irregularities arose in the examination that Luis Suárez took to obtain Italian citizenship.

“From the research activities it emerged that the topics covered by the exam had been agreed in advance and that the score had been assigned before the exam, and that the candidate had demonstrated only an elementary knowledge of the Italian language.

“Today the financial police are making documentary acquisitions at the University of Perugia aimed at confirming the described conduct and reporting crimes of disclosure of office secrets, ideological falsification committed by public officials and more.”

As Suarez falls into the limelight in Italy, Juve have put aside their interest in securing his signature and have moved on to other goals.

Roma forward Edin Dzeko was sought out at one point, before gaze settled on the familiar face of Álvaro Morata.

The Spanish international is undergoing medical checks in Turin before his change from Atlético de Madrid, after having spent two years with the Bianconeri between 2014 and 2016, so it is possible that his place in the Wanda Metropolitano will now be covered by Suárez .
